Amora Coffee Scam Review – MUST READ!

Amora Coffee (AmoraCoffee) is an online coffee and tea retailer that has been said to employ deceptive and predatory marketing tactics on their unsuspecting consumers.

Launched in 2011, Amora Coffee supports premium coffee and tea blends that are accompanied with heavy price tags which nearly triples the average consumer price points of coffee brands like Folgers.

While the online community appears mostly in distraught regarding Amora Coffee and their marketing tactics, further research will reveal that technically they aren’t breaking any US laws.

The aim of this unbiased review would be to provide you with an encompassing oversight of Amora Coffee while shedding light on the excessive complaints filed against AmoraCoffee.com.

About Amora Coffee

Amora Coffee was born by the end of 2011.

Their mission was to bring freshly roasted coffee to all Americans.

Today Amora Coffee offers 4 different varieties of coffee blends that can come as whole bean, finely ground, regular blend or decaf.

According to their site, Amora Coffee uses the finest beans and a 9-step roasting process and then cuts out of the middle man, shipping direct to your door.

The thought process behind cutting out the middle man would be to ensure product freshness while also reducing business expenses.

Four years later in 2015, Amora Coffee added Amora Tea to their product inventory where now they support 6 different tea blends.

Amora Coffee Blends

Delicate Blend

A classic blend of Central and South American beans that is said to be balanced, fruity, creamy with good body.

Eleganta Blend

A blend of medium roast Indonesian and South American beans, the cup has ‘excellent’ sweetness and a syrupy body with a complex finish.

Vigorosi Blend

A medium dark blend of East African and South American beans offering sweet acidity with a bittersweet chocolate finish.

Intenso Blend

A blend of Central and South American beans that is said to deliver an intense full body dark roast with a bold rich decadent finish.

Amora Coffee Checkout

Amora Coffee blends are valued at $15 per bag.

When it comes to checking out, AmoraCoffee.com only enables consumers to enroll with their automated subscription service, where consumers will receive a half pound bag of coffee and some select sweets.

There is no ability to conduct a one-time checkout through AmoraCoffee.com, which is undoubtedly where the complaints start to rack up regarding Amora Coffee.

The only requirement is that you pay the $1 shipping and handling fee.

Likewise, Amora Tea special offers automatically enroll consumers into their auto-renew subscription service (more on that below).

Amora Coffee Reviews

Amora Coffee does not reflect the best consumer feedback.

According to Yelp, Amora Coffee reflects a 1.5 out of 5 star rating out of 90 reviews.

Shared below are some of the most recent reviews we found:

“**Preface** I really don’t understand how people think they can truly get something for free in this day in age, without at the very least being signed up for an auto-delivery program of some sort. HELLO. Pay attention to emails and fine print. It’s not rocket science people. That aside, I AM IN LOVE AND OBSESSED WITH THIS COFFEE”

“Absolute scam. Ordered a box of wine and they advertised an offer to add-on a bag of coffee…The coffee arrived with NO clear reference to a subscription service. Then, weeks later, suddenly a box along with a $70 charge…Dishonest. Reporting to various places possible.”

To find out more consumer reviews you can visit PissedConsumer, which reflects an Amora Coffee rating of 1.7 out of 5 stars out of 345 consumer reviews.

Amora Coffee Complaints

The complaints regarding Amora Coffee are numerous and undoubtedly coincide with Amora Coffee’s vagueness regarding their special offers.

As a result, the Better Business Bureau issued the following complaint:

As the image above elaborates, the vast majority of consumers who purchase a special order through AmoraCoffee.com were under the impression that it was a one-time purchase.

Not an auto enrollment that sends you a fresh batch of FOUR half pound bags, at a regular price of $14.95 per bag plus $7.95 per shipment for handling and expedited delivery.

How to Purchase Amora Coffee Outright

As we previously mentioned there is not a way to purchase Amora Coffee or tea through AmoraCoffee.com without having to partake in their auto enrollment process.

In order to purchase their coffee and tea goods outright, you must select their “Store” tab at AmoraCoffee.com where you will be redirected to AmoraCoffeeOrders.com.

Only at AmoraCoffeeOrders can you purchase Amora Coffee and teas without auto enrollment.

Is Amora Coffee a Scam?

Amora Coffee does not appear to be a scam despite how many upset consumers surface in their wake of unknown auto enrollment.

Amora Coffee and Amora LLC are Better Business Bureau approved and in terms of legality are operating by the books, despite some apparently shady checkout procedures.

Amora Coffee Review Conclusion

Amora Coffee supports a premium selection of coffee and tea for US consumers.

Despite their operation having amassed an excessive number of complaints over the past few years, they appear to be functioning within the parameters of US law.

While we don’t agree with the way that Amora Coffee conducts their business, and more specifically their special offers, we have no concrete footing to declare this operation as illegitimate due to operating within lawful parameters.

Given the information shared in the review above, we advice you to shop with Amora Coffee with caution and avoid their special offers as a whole.

Outcome: Amora Coffee is Legit

It’s not a scam? Really? Then, how do you explain my mother cancelling her account with them last month (Dec. 2019) and Amora STILL taking money from her this month (Jan.2020)? I say, again: she CANCELLED her account with Amora Coffee LAST MONTH (December 2019) and in that SAME MONTH, Amora confirmed for her that her account had been SUCCESSFULLY CANCELLED and THIS MONTH (January 2020), Amora STILL TOOK HER MONEY! When someone cancels their account with your company and you confirm success in the cancellation of that account, you don’t go and take that person’s money, anyway! Where, in Amora’s “Terms of Service”, does it say, “Even if you terminate your account with us, we are still entitled to your money”?

For anyone out there that is dismissing consumer complaints because they were misled into automatically subscribing to a $68 per shipment coffee club, well, shame on you.

To all the naysayers (Amora Coffee and those working for them like ROSA LEE CHRISTOPHER) most companies offer a free sample where you only pay for the shipping. That is the general assumption and, if it’s a legitimate company, that is absolutely the standard.

I cancelled my subscription and I received a package on 11/09/2019. I am going to return the coffee that you sent. why would you do that? If I cancelled the subscription? Please return any monies to me that you billed me for. this is not funny to me.

I am not sure if this is a scam or if I just did not read the fine print. I did get their $1.00 offer and the coffee was okay. Several weeks later I did see a charge on my pay pal account for almost $70.00 from Amora. I called them the next morning and yes, I had agreed for shipments. I cancelled immediately. I will see if my account is credited back, If not I will complain like hell. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck it must be a scam. Just be careful.

      Hi Richard,
I just got the exact same issue! They charged me $68.
Did you get the money back??

      • Richard Cohen

It was some time ago for me but I believe I did get either a refund or my credit card issued me a credit after I questioned the payment.

  6. Howard

I would say the scam is that I was unable to find anything about an automatic sign up when I signed up. OK, I’ll take that, but I have been unable to logon to the site to cancel… Why? And why does Google Chrome and my anti virus list that site as unsafe?

  7. Bob

The charges on my credit card statement ARE NOT listed or explained in any of the fine print! SCAM!!!

  8. Christy

I have been receiving this coffee for about a year now and I love it. I knew it was gonna be an automatic subscription and I know I can cancel anytime. You can also change how often you want your coffee delivered. I have mine coming every 8 weeks. And since I have been with them for a while now I am also getting free shipping. Great customer service and great coffee!!!

    • Peter Kennedy MD

Ditto. The coffee itself is among the richest, deeply aromatic that I’ve drunk. I had stopped Amora’s automatic service, because the bags were piling up.
But I’, re-upping. I like the product that much.

THIS IS NOT A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! READ THE TERMS/REQUIREMENTS PEOPLE
This is the first coffee that I have been able to drink and not have an upset/hurting stomach.
Yes it is pricey, but if you consider what is shipped free at each stage (time/# orders), you’ll actually see that for the most part it is cheaper than store bought depending on the blend you choose.
I find the gifts to be of good quality.
I also like getting things in the mail, so I get an added bonus of this.
When I have had to cancel in the past for one reason or another, I found it easy to do so on the website.
The ones that I get that I don’t like, are given as gifts to others. None goes to waste and a few people have actually joined and been happy with Amora.

    • Bob

What makes you think everyone’s experience is the same? Who are you to act so condescending in the assumption that absolutely everyone situation concerning this company is explained within the terms/requirements? You enjoy the coffee? Good, then drink it and keep your one sided comments to yourself!

Thank you so much for this article!!
I have been using survey websites to earn cash quickly and came across this offer by Amora coffee. I did not read the terms and conditions and that’s my error, but I did decide to research after not getting my money for completing the survey. It is still pending on my account and a few days have passed so I just so happened to search Amora and found you. I have called the number you provided and I was subscribed to an auto enrollment that I was unaware about. They took me off without a hassle, and I’m still getting the coffee shipped to me. Thank you a lot. I understand this article is controversial but you’ve helped me.
